BGMC/ACTS Joint Project

The Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS) and the BGMC office have joined together to provide schools with free missions curriculum and resources to teach their students about missions. As you know, educating students about the needs of the world is a vital component of teaching them to care about others and appreciate diversity. Training students to give to the many organizations around the world needing financial support teaches them the value of hard work and sacrifice.

Following is a list of carefully chosen ministries around the world that are in great need of resources by students in schools such as yours. Each of these ministries are run with the highest degree of integrity as verified by Assemblies of God world missionaries. They are a mix of orphanages, schools, feeding programs, after-school ministries, and Bible colleges. You have the ability to select any of the ministries and then to designate which one will receive your donations.

You can collect offerings by using “Buddy Boxes” which can be placed in every classroom. The students can be challenged to fill them up with missions’ funds for needs overseas. You may order extra Buddy Boxes by going to www.gospelpublishing.com. Click on the “shop by item number” in the top left corner of the page. Type in item number 715-200 and the quantity you need. Or you may order by calling toll free, 1-800-641-4310. BGMC provides these resources and many others free to organizations who send offerings for ministries such as these. In fact, once your school sends in its first offering, quarterly resources and free annual missions curriculum will be sent for use within the school.

Listed below is information on each ministry. For more information about BGMC, or to request free missions curriculum and/or free resources, go to www.BGMC.ag.org.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to join with us as we endeavor to impact the world for Christ! When you send your offerings to the BGMC office, please be sure to use the enclosed “target” form to designate which ministry you want your offerings to support.

2007–2008 School Year Special Targets for Christian Schools

Christian Schools

International Study Centre of Peshawar (ISCP) in Pakistan(001.01.007.4204.020108)
ISCP is a school for overseas kids from all over the world whose parents are volunteers working with the local community in and around Peshawar, Pakistan. This school makes it possible for missionary kids to live at home and yet be educated while their parents are free to do the work of the ministry.

Qiriazi School in Albania: David and Sue Hartman (001.01.007.4204.020109)
Qiriazi School’s theme is “Educating international children to have maximum influence for the glory of God in their lifetime.” Ministry needs consist of funds to develop scholarships as well as funds to expand the technology hardware in the school by providing at least eight new computers.

Orphanages/Children’s Home

New Vision City of Refuge Children’s Home in Christiana, Jamaica: Stuart and Wendy Brown (001.01.007.4204.020114)
Currently we have about 30 children who range in age from 5 to18. Many of our children were abused or abandoned and therefore placed at our home. Our hope is to restore our children to spiritual, physical and emotional wholeness, teaching them in the process and by example that having a mother and father committed to one another and to their family is the best and healthiest way to raise a child. We have a blog where you can find more information and pictures: http://jesuslovesjamaica.blogspot.com

Ebenezer Cologio, Bolivia: Lori Potutschnig (001.01.007.4204.0206011)
This Latin American Child Care School is located on the former site of the city garbage dump. Those living in and around this area are some of the poorest people in the world. Over 750 children are being fed on a daily basis. Construction of a Kitchen/Dining Hall Commons with classrooms on the upper floors is one of the pressing needs as well as the construction of workshops to better prepare the students for the work force. A hair dressing workshop and sewing workshop are already up and running. Future plans are to implement carpentry, printing, metal, mason, and confection workshops.

After-School Programs

Family Circus Ministry in the Philippines: Darrel and Sandra Blatchley (001.01.007.4204.020118)
The Family Circus is a ministry in the Philippines that is reaching over 3,000 children on a weekly basis. They are currently building a new facility where they hope to reach more than 10,000 children every week. They are also in need of finances to build a dental lab and equipping a nursery for all the newborns that come into their ministry every month.

Cheriu for Gypsy Kids: After-School Program in Romania (001.01.007.4204.020112)
The children are transported from their school to the Children of the Promise headquarters to do homework, learn computers, and learn music and Bible lessons. Each Saturday all the children of the Cheriu project have a program at the village center where they are involved in club activities: a computer course, music (mandolin), contests, and sports, etc.

Bible Colleges/Theological Seminaries

CTS in Western Europe: Roland Dudley (001.01.007.4204.020110)
Continental Theological Seminary, a center for Pentecostal undergraduate and postgraduate theological studies, exists to provide higher education in an international environment to prepare men and women for Christian ministry and challenge them to develop spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and culturally in order to serve God and their fellow man.

Canary Islands Bible Institute: Larry and Melinda Henderson (001.01.007.4204.020115)
This institute is a place to train those who desire to follow God’s call upon their lives into ministry and a place of support for all groups within the local churches. On weekends and holidays we host children’s retreats, ladies’ meetings, interdenominational prayer days, family seminars, and youth events, just to name a few.

Mongolia Bible School: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (001.01.007.4204.020116)
Mongolia is a unique setting and has been open to missionary activity for the past 15 years, after the iron curtain fell. The school is doing a great job of training workers but has very few books and computers for the students to study at the level they would like to.

Samoan 4-Year Bible School: Megan Reichelderfer (001.01.007.4204.020117)
This school has 26 full-time and 6 part-time students. It has just added a fourth year and is in need of upgrading the library and providing textbooks for the students.
